BHI SecureConnect Promotes Internet Safety to Youth during Minneapolis Safety Camp

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (August 13, 2010) - In partnership with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, BHI Advanced Internet was invited to participate in the annual Minneapolis Safety Camp last week.  The three-day camp for third and fourth graders, teaches children personal and social safety skills in a fun and friendly environment.

Serving as youth counselors, Minneapolis Police Officers and Firefighters partner with local companies to help teach children a wide range of topics including Animal Safety, Crime Prevention, Fire Safety, Drug Awareness, Internet Safety and much more.  As a trusted source of information surrounding Internet security and safety, BHI Advanced Internet has participated in the Safety Camp for the past five years.  “As a local business, we are delighted to provide our youth with information that will positively impact their decision making skills and educate them about Internet dangers” said Dave Perrill, President of BHI Advanced Internet. 

Internet Safety has evolved considerably in the past five years with the increased interaction young children have with the Internet and the growing popularity of social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.  As stories continue to emerge about criminals luring children on the Internet to meet in person, the need for Internet Safety education is of even greater importance. “It is a great opportunity for children to learn how the Internet can be used properly without putting themselves at risk for danger.” Perrill said. Minneapolis Safety Camp has remained a perfect venue for BHI to share its expertise to benefit the community and educate youth.
